About this property

Welcome to Hotel Indigo Exeter by IHG

Situated in the heart of Exeter on Catherine Street, Hotel Indigo Exeter by IHG offers a convenient base for exploring the city’s historic and cultural attractions. The hotel’s proximity to landmarks such as Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum makes it appealing for visitors interested in sightseeing and local history. With Exeter Airport just a 20-minute drive away, accessibility for travelers is relatively straightforward.

This four-star property features modern, air-conditioned rooms alongside a variety of guest amenities including a fitness center, spa, hot tub, and a restaurant known as Dottie’s. While the spa facilities require an additional fee and have limited operating hours, some guests have appreciated the overall wellness offerings. The hotel also accommodates pets and families with children, catering to a diverse range of visitors.

Guest experiences highlight the hotel’s helpful and attentive staff, efficient check-in process, and enjoyable rooftop bar with views of the cathedral. While parking is not available on-site, secure options exist nearby, which is typical for a central city location. The absence of a business center and airport shuttle reflects a property more focused on leisure stays rather than business travel.

A mixed but generally positive rating around 4.1 reflects a balance of praise for the hotel’s location and service with some reservations about aspects like spa size and parking convenience. Great stay at the Indigo which was a simple walk from the train station. Got upgraded to a suite because of my loyalty program and had a big room with a great view of the cathedral. Rooftop bar was very nice in the evening. I didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food. All staff were helpful with the front desk going above and beyond to ensure all was good. I had a five-star stay and would definitely stay here again.

Amazing Location. Great value for money. Staff were attetive. Continental breakfast was value for money for a hotel. Only downsise was that you cant park right in front of hotel so you do have to be mindful if you want to bring kultiole suitcases alone.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Indigo for 1 night (a very rare childfree date night), before we arrived, I had seen a particular room/view that I'd of liked to request if it was available and not already been allocated. I emailed reception and after a very short wait, Amira responded and advised that she could fulfil my request. Upon arriving, the hotel lobby gives you the wow factor... staff were & customer service were amazing, swift check in and straight to our room. The room I requested did not disappoint, it was stunning. We had a drink on the roof top terrace - this was fab - only thing I will say, is the dear bar tender (lovely guy, fab customer service) was on his own up there, and it did take an age to get a drink - it needs two staff up there in my opinion. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, we were shown around the breakfast area talked through everything asked about allergies etc. Spa, a 'little' disappointed with the spa, it closes at 6pm, and there was no mention of this at reception so we weren't able to use until the follow day by the time we checked in. It is the first hotel I know of with a spa that we have had to pay additional for use of the facilities? £15 each. One of the hydro baths were not working, the other Luke warm, sauna, steam room & storm shower fab - but we were in and out within about 40 mins as wasn't wowed by it like the rest of the hotel. :-)

We popped into Dottie’s bar in the Indigo hotel for a quick birthday drink before going for a meal. We were served by Emily and Libby and they were both super polite and really friendly. There were some more mature gentlemen in the bar who were (in my opinion) very rude to both girls, but they were very professional and apologised on the men’s’ behalf (which they didn’t need to do) and made the whole experience very pleasant. So much so we would return, just based on their behaviours. They are an asset to the bar and restaurant team.

Was a wonderful experience. My friend and I are celebrating big birthdays this year, so treated ourselves to an overnight spa break. Everything was lovely from start to finish. We used the spa facilities, had a treatment, evening meal and a cooked breakfast. Would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it

What a beautiful hotel! 5* experience all round. I visited Hotel Indigo with two friends for 2 nights and made my booking apart of my travel business @BucketListHolidays. I was immediately surprised by the amazing location of the hotel. So close to the picturesque cathedral, many amazing restaurants and loads of shops, including highstreets names and little independent boutiques. The service was incredible. Our room was beautifully presented and clean. We loved the décor of the whole hotel. The only minor minus for us was that the spa was a lot smaller than we had expected, but we were given our money back and complimentary drinks for this. We had an amazing meal at the hotel, with incredible options to choose from on the menu. All staff were very professional and took pride in their job, providing exceptional service. I will definitely be recommending this hotel as part of my business and hope to return in the near future with my husband. There is no parking at the hotel, as you are central, however, there are many option close by to park your car safely and for a 24hour rate.
